MAN DIES AFTER SWERVING TO AVOID A KANGAROO

A 39-year-old man has died, after appearing to swerve to avoid hitting a kangaroo in the state’s north west yesterday.

Around 10pm, a woman contacted a friend after her partner failed to return home as expected.

The friend then retraced the route the man would have driven, which included travelling along Fossickers Way, just south of Bingara.

The friend located the man’s utility, which appeared to have rolled in a paddock.

Police believe that as the driver travelled north sometime after 6pm, he negotiated a slight left-hand bend, and swerved in an attempt to avoid a kangaroo.

It appears the vehicle crossed to the incorrect side of the road, left the sealed section of the carriageway, and struck a grassed culvert before rolling.

The driver was located deceased a short distance away, while a dead kangaroo was also located nearby.
