A fierce blaze has gutted the iconic ‘Ayers Rock Roadhouse’, north of Newcastle this evening.
Around 7.15pm, 18 fire crews were called to the scene on the Pacific Highway at North Arm Cove, following reports of a fire at the service centre.
Crews arrived to find the structure well alight, with an operation currently underway to protect onsite fuel storage tanks.
No injuries have been reported, crews are expected to battle the blaze for several hours.
The scale replica of Uluru was built by the Leyland Brothers in 1990, as part of their theme park.
