MANILLA WATER IMPROVEMENTS ON THE WAY

Work could begin by the end of the year on a new water treatment plant for Manilla.

The current plant is controlled manually, and is too old to automate.

It struggles to treat both water from the Namoi River and harder water from the back-up Manilla River supply.

“With this new supply we’ll be able to get more secure water out of the Manilla River,” Councillor Jim Maxwell, Tamworth Regional Council.

The new $15-million project will look to improve quality and reliability.

“There will be two new pumps going in to the Namoi River and the Manilla River, and on a greenfield site a state-of-the-art water processing plant will be built,” Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson.
