METRES BURST IN BIG FREEZE
Sub-zero temperatures across the region have kept council workers on their toes with water infrastructure unable to withstand the chilly conditions.
Tamworth Regional Council has reported more than 100 burst water-metres over the past two-days.
On-call staff working around the clock to repair the damage.
Council is now urging home owners to cover their water metres to prevent them from freezing.
“If a resident does wake up one morning and find they have a leaking water metre or pipe entering their property, please give council a call. For those that are tenants in the area, obviously please call the real estate agent and they can report it into council.”
