TWO CHARGED OVER NORTH COAST POLICE PURSUITS

A 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are set to face court, after allegedly leading police on two pursuits on the New South Wales North Coast.

It’s alleged the pair were travelling in a Mercedes Benz 230E in the early hours of Sunday morning, when they failed to stop for a random breath test at Banora Point near Tweed Heads.

A short pursuit commenced, before being terminated for safety reasons.

Officers later spotted the car on Sexton Hill Drive, with a second pursuit once again called off due to safety concerns.

Following inquiries a 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested at a Cabarita resort, with police allegedly seizing a firearm, vehicle keys, cannabis, and ammunition.

The man was charged with a string of offences including driving a motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The woman was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit.
