COAL PROTESTORS WARNED BUT MAKE THEIR POINT

Anti-coal activists who delayed the first shipment of coal from the controversial Maules Creek Mine near Boggabri late last year, have faced court.
Eight protestors were arrested for blockading a coal train as it approached the Port of Newcastle last December.
But in Newcastle Court today, only one member of the group received a fine, and had a conviction recorded.
The activists were highlighting what they say are the climate and health risks of new mines.
