POLICE PURSUIT ENDS IN MULTI CAR CRASH NEAR PORT MACQUARIE

Six people, including two children, have been taken to hospital after a police pursuit ended in a multi-car crash on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.

Officers were travelling along the Pacific Highway at Cooperabung north of Port Macquarie, just after 7 o’clock last night, when they detected a Mitsubishi Lancer travelling 132km/h in a 100km/h zone.

A pursuit started, with the Lancer allegedly accelerating to speeds of up to 200km/h in a 110km/h zone, before crashing into several cars.

Six people, including a 9 year-old and an 11-year-old were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 19-year-old driver was uninjured and underwent mandatory testing.

He was charged with a string of offences, and refused bail to appear in court later today.
