LOCAL RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS RECOGNISED FOR THEIR COMMITMENT
Today marks Red Cross Day and in Coffs Harbour, the critical role of local volunteers was recognised.
Australian Red Cross C-E-O Judy Slatyer was in town to discuss the future of the humanitarian aid service.
Her mission, to remind volunteers that while it’s a global movement, what happens at a local level is critically important.
“Coffs Harbour is the example of that, we might be part of something global, it translates into lots and lots of local action.”
The Northern Region is home to close to 2000 volunteers and today, some were recognised for their commitment.
“They’re always in there for every disaster, they do a lot of international work and now in our modern times they do tremendous amounts of community work.”
