Police have been asked to investigate whether protestors illegally accessed parts of Whitehaven’s Tarrawonga coal mine near Boggabri.
Activists want federal Environment Minister Tony Burke to assess all coal expansions bordering on Leard State Forest and have released a photo which claims to be a group of protestors gathered on mining land.
Whitehaven’s managing director, Tony Haggarty, says trespass on the mine site is extremely serious and compromises the safety of workers and protestors.
