SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MAN INVOLVED IN A SHOAL BAY ARMED ROBBERY

The search is continuing for a man involved in an armed robbery near Port Stephens, where another man was stabbed yesterday afternoon.

Just after 1:30pm, police were called to a license premises on Shoal Bay Road following reports a man wearing a motorbike helmet entered the property and demanded cash.

A 24-year-old employee approached the man as he was leaving with the money.

The thief then produced a knife and stabbed the staff member in the face. The employee was later treated in hospital for lacerations to his face.

The offender fled the scene on foot empty handed.

He was last seen running south along Tomaree Road wearing a silver motorbike helmet and gloves.

This morning, police continued to canvas the area surrounding the premises, and have seized what’s believed to be the man’s motorbike.
