A 59-year-old man has been charged following an alleged stabbing in Mayfield East.
Police were called to a house on Margaret Street at about 12.30pm on Sunday, to find a 34-year-old man with wounds to his chest.
The man was treated by paramedics and taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
The accused was arrested at the scene and charged with malicious wounding, he’ll face Newcastle Local Court today.
