BANTING FALLS AGONISINGLY SHORT OF VICTORY AT MANLY

Port Macquarie’s Matt Banting has fallen just short of victory at the Sydney Pro, beaten in the semis of the 6000 point qualifying series event by eventual champion Deivid Silva.

Banting started strong with an early five and a six, but the Brazilian soon scored two eights to put the result beyond doubt.

The result should still see the former world championship tour surfer leap up the QS leaderboard and into the top 10.
