MAN REFUSED BAIL OVER ALLEGED HIT AND RUN

A 33-year-old man charged over what police claim was a hit and run will remain behind bars for at least another two weeks.

Steven James Blacklock was refused bail in Tamworth local court yesterday.

Police allege he struck a woman in her 20s with his car at around 6-o’clock on Saturday morning, near the intersection of Cole Road and Tingira Avenue.

Blacklock has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and driving in a manner dangerous.

The woman suffered head and leg injuries.

The matter is due back in court next month.
