The New England Highway has been reopened after a chemical spill at Scone.
Chlorine was noticed leaking from tanks in the public swimming pool’s chemical storage area early this morning.
Emergency services, concerned about poisonous fumes, diverted traffic off the New England Highway, while the main Northern rail line was temporarily closed.
A truck was brought in this afternoon to decant almost 4,000 litres of chlorine from the damaged tanks.
It’s unclear why the chlorine was leaking.
