Local cyclist Mitch Carrington has taken out this year’s Gunnedah to Tamworth in a time of 2 hours and 38 minutes.
The race came down to a sprint down Burgmann’s lane, with Carrington crossing the line two lengths ahead of Daniel Alcock.
The 24-year-old left town this morning for the Tour of Tahiti.
“A lot of the racing will be similar distances to this. A lot hillier over there, but nevertheless it’s a good tune up.”
