Two people, one aged only 14, have helped rescue a man caught in a rip on the Mid North Coast.

A group of three were swimming at a beach at Tuncurry, just before 6 o’clock last night, when they were caught in the rip.

Two of the group managed to make their way to shore, but a 19-year-old man was struggling to stay above the water.

A 14-year-old male and a 19-year-old woman swam out to help the man back to the beach.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Manning Base Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
