The Lismore-based Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service has celebrated a milestone this week – reaching its 9000th mission.
It’s an achievement the service says wouldn’t have been possible, without the ongoing support of the community.
“When you look at that small way we started all those many years ago, back in 1982, to what we are today, it’s just remarkable.”
The milestone was reached on Wednesday when the helicopter was tasked to the winch recovery of a 15-year-old girl, who fell onto rocks at Muttonbird Island off Coffs Harbour.
