SLSNSW SENDS RENEWED SURF SAFETY WARNING

Mid North Coast surf lifesavers say there’s been an increase in rescues this week, amid dangerous surf conditions.

It’s prompted a messages to beach-goers to be aware of how powerful rips can be.

“The similar thing with most of them is people are not taking enough notice of the warnings, the bureau has been putting out warning for large surf, certainly surf New South Wales are doing the same thing, those warnings are not getting through to people,” said President of Lower North Coast Surf Life Saving Brian Willcox.

Surf Life Saving New South Wales is urging people to download the Beach Safe app, which contains up-to-date warnings, surf conditions, and beach closures anywhere in the state.

“It’s really important with your family and friends to make sure you stay safe, go to beaches that are patrolled, don’t take your friends to isolated beaches where they could get into trouble because you are so far away from help and things happen really quickly,” said Mr Willcox.
