Lake Macquarie Council is seeking feedback from the community on whether next year’s Show Holiday should be a half-day public holiday.
The company running the Newcastle Show, AH&I Association, advocates a half-day would allow workplaces to close at noon and have less of an impact on businesses.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Jodie Harrison says both residents and businesses should have their say on the options.
“Council is interested in responses to the question of a minimum half-day public holiday, which we have not specifically asked our community about before.”
Submissions close September 1.
