TALKS CONTINUE FOR DAVISTOWN WETLANDS

The Davistown wetlands debate has reached a new level, with MP Lucy Wicks bringing it to the federal government’s attention.
Since the land’s failed sale on Tuesday, there are renewed calls it to be acquired by a level of government.
“While this does appear to be a matter for the state and local governments and the land owner, there are fears expressed by the local Davistown residents about the protection of our local environment.”
She’s contacted Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg to see whether the area falls under Commonwealth protection.
The wetlands is one of the Coast’s most vibrant ecosystems, home to the Golden Bell Frog.
