AMBULANCE INVOLVED IN COLLISION ON FAR NORTH COAST

An ambulance has been involved in a car crash on the Far North Coast.

The ambulance was travelling along the Gold Coast Highway in Tweed Heads just after 2pm, when it was involved in a collision with a vehicle towing a boat at the intersection of the M1off ramp.

The ambulance flipped and rolled a number of times.

The heart attack patient in the ambulance was taken to John Flynn Hospital on the Gold Coast for treatment.

One paramedic was airlifted with abdominal injuries.

A small fire broke out in the car towing the boat, but it was extinguished at the scene and the occupants were not believed to be injured.
