NURSES THREATEN INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Nurses and midwives at John Hunter Hospital have voted to take further industrial action, if concerns over staffing aren’t addressed.
Union members will stop carrying out mandatory follow-up phone calls with recently-discharged patients from Thursday.
It follows a protest earlier this month, relating to staff being overworked.
Hunter New England Health says it’s hired 52 new nurses in the past fortnight, and will work the Nurses and Midwives Association to ensure the action doesn’t go ahead.
