FORMER RSPCA EMPLOYEE CALLS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE OMBUDSMAN

The RSPCA is under fire for high animal kill-rates, prompting calls for a parliamentary inquiry into the organisation.

But former employee Nate Barnes says the issue is bigger than the organisation and he’s advocating for an animal rights and welfare ombudsman to step in.

  1. Thank you to NBN for allowing the fighting for animals to have a continuing voice that is offering solutions to this ever increasing issue of killing animals and some media attacks on the RSPCA NSW. Understanding time restrictions for news coverage Montana and I made a youtube video explaining our full suggestions. Please look up MoviesByMontana4Dogs under media playlist. The answer is to assist ALL the animal related areas (puppy mills with Oscar’s Law, why is this not fixed? Every animal welfare large org wants them banned? WHY DOESN’T THIS JUST HAPPEN? Not that hard. If they can provide staff to animal Ratio that fits into the current companion animal laws.. All good, show open video to dispel these “myths”. If not able to show that these requirements are being met. Shut them down, and again with full video open for all to comment) being currently tied up IN RED TAPE, OBVIOUSLY AS nothing been done.
Thousands of animals being created and then having to E & D in shelters and pounds the same type of animals = hundreds of thousand dying. Had years to figure out the answer. A Mass Desex program with $2.5 Million out of EVERY RSPCA is over $15,000,000.00… wow. NSW has, the $30,000,000 left over from LAST YEAR, STILL IN THE BANK, of community donations (i think less than a 10% offer/program easy and fix ..PR maybe? not just 40,000 animals in the new RSPCA desex project). PLEASE use some of this money 10% e.g. via relocating into free desex days once a week at every shelter, at night maybe to not disrupt normal biz, making it open to EVERYBODY..

TRY it please, why not for two years = 150,000 plus or minus desexed animals, at $100 per animal average size is what the basic cost are to not even lose any money… So every cat, dog, kitten, Gunnie pig, puppy, horse or whatever people wanted to get desexed. FREE for two years. And if any of these 150K free Desexing’s (if any or most of these people who want to give $ back to RAPCA via….) gave $10 per animal towards costs… Or ” acting in good faith” gesture. This ALONE is ANOTHER 15,000 animals desexed, $1.5 million made by $10 donations when you desex for free, you can do the vet work.. also able to be seen as solving problems instead of you having to kill them…Guessing official reply “to expensive” may be the case, OK… why and ask for a tax break from….

An Australian Animal Welfare & Rights Ombudsman. (Only accountable to the Attorney General, to cut thru the red tape and implement changes at a National level)

To help the RSPCA is the answer, in Nate and Montana Barnes’ out of the box opinion / suggestion.
Asking the public NOT TO BE directing anger at ALL RSPCA. So many amazing people working within, all over Australia. However as ALL large animal organisations are autonomous this can not currently be addressed under the current animal welfare system and “Rules”, AS THERE ARE NONE.

  2. It is a off lead dog park, thanx for your concern tho, Raymond. The t.v. Ad Montana was in for 8 years RSPCA pet insurance until 2012, also had no lead, and all filmed in appropriate areas. Thank you for paying attention tho.

  3. The RSPCA problems are bigger than just an ombudsman can solve. I have been under investigation by RSPCA Qld with over 80% of internet searches for my name coming from RSPCA Qld. RSPCA have me a banned customer of Jetpets and Dogtainers, Our telephone has been sabotaged two Christmas boarding times and one Easter boarding times. My customers hear nasty stories about me with RSPCA able to get my telephone records. Logan Council have sent me a compliance notice with the intention of cancelling my kennel licence, and the compliance notice is full of lies, misrepresentations and is totally unreasonable – I would say it is an example of criminal misconduct. Yes we have had death threats, spying on us, and all sorts of other harassment and this is because RSPCA have declared me an evil puppy farmer. The Police will not help saying they cannot because RSPCA administer an act of parliament. The Crime and Misconduct Commission will do nothing saying RSPCA is not a unit of public administration. Conclusion: RSPCA is above the law and is acting with malice determined to force their way on people. So what can we do?

  4. Hello, Trevor. Over the last 6 months I have had some “new” very good experiences with QLD RSPCA, so I personally will get in contact with you within the week regarding this situation. Provided you are willing to do an unedited video, with stat declarations and myself etc. Quite sure this will not be a problem. Sorry that there has again been another indication of the systemic failures, especially in the area of appeal. The Australian Animal Rights and Welfare Office may not be the answer, HOWEVER as animal loving, tax paying, charity giving members of society. Surely there is a need for assistance to those who have been forced onto being autonomous, and unable to reduce the kill rates, no laws or rules, community criticism and create a transparent charity in NSW would make a huge difference.
