The season of defending Newcastle Rugby League premiers Souths is over, eliminated at the hands of Lakes in a hard-fought finals match today.
Playing at home, the Seagulls led from kick-off – but it was never comfortable.
Up 12-6 at half-time, Souths did draw level early in the second and the contest was back on.
But Lakes ran away with it, living to fight another day.
They’ll face either Macquarie or Central.
