TAKING TRADES TO AN AWNING LEVEL

There’s a new type of tradie in town, with a very unique specialty.
Luke Stanbury is Australia’s first accredited blinds and awnings technician.
The 21-year-old has just completed the first training course of its kind through TAFE, learning skills he would have otherwise missed out on.
“I actually don’t think I would have picked it up at all, no, but I had a rough idea in my head but didn’t realise how important safety and everything was until I was actually working.”
It’s estimated the blind manufacturing industry employs over 155,000 people nationwide, with no formal trade qualifications until now.
