A 45-year-old from Mayfield – known as the ‘Man in the Doorway’ – was remembered today as nearly 200 motorbike riders travelled across Newcastle, two months on from his death.
Bernie Sessions’ ashes were carried on the back of his brother’s bike for the procession, which ended in one of his favourite spots at Stockton.
Mr Sessions was a popular figure in Mayfield – he battled paranoid schizophrenia.
Today’s ‘Bikes for Bernie’ ride was also about raising funds and awareness of mental illness.
