FATAL CRASH AT MAYFIELD

A 30-year-old woman has died in a car crash at Mayfield.

Police say she was travelling along Industrial Drive early this morning when she lost control of her vehicle.

The car crossed to the wrong side of the road, clipped a power pole, then flipped onto its roof before slamming into a tree.

The woman was thrown from the car and was found several metres away. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were notified of the accident at 5:30am, but believe the crash occurred hours earlier, around 2am.

Industrial Drive was closed to eastbound traffic for several hours but has since re-opened.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have traveled past the intersection early this morning to come forward.
