DOGS IN SAFE SPACE RALLY

Passionate dog owners rallied at Lambton Park today, calling for Newcastle Council and the state government to expedite the delivery of a fenced-off, leash-free area.

With the park owned by Crown Lands, those behind the call fear red tape will hold up the project.

“It’s a bit of a bureaucratic process and there will be some too-ing and fro-ing, we’re hoping the huge numbers of people and their dogs that have come along help add to the argument that their is a desire from the community to see something delivered”

There’s also hope the leash-free area won’t be the last.

“Lambton will be the flagship for a fenced off area but it certainly won’t be the last and I’m really keen to see similar facilities delivered right across the city”

Newcastle Council has allocated funds to deliver the project in the next 12 months.
