HMAS Parramatta has arrived in Newcastle for the long weekend, with a four gun salute at Fort Scratchley welcoming the vessel this morning.
The Anzac class frigate is under the leadership of a command team hailing from Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
Commander Simon Howard, Lieutenant Commander Danielle Radnidge, and Warrant Officer Dave Carter all hail from the region.
HMAS Parramatta is one of eight Anzac class frigates operated by the Royal Australian Navy.
