COONAMBLE PROTESTS PILLIGA PIPELINE

Concerned farmers and landholders have met in Coonamble to discuss the impacts of the proposed 450-kilometre gas pipeline across the Pilliga.

Many landholders say they’re worried the pipeline could have negative impacts to the Great Artesian Basin.

“It’s the lifeblood to our food producing regions, so this is an issue for all of Australians, not just for towns where the pipeline is going through.”

“The future generations will have no water to farm, which means there will be no communities like Coonamble, Gulargambone or even Dubbo.

The APA group decided late yesterday it would not attend to meet with landholders, due ‘social media posts suggesting organised disruption’.
