BRAND NEW FESTIVAL SHOWCASING ART, MUSIC AND CULTURE IN FINAL PREPARATION

Friday will mark the beginning of the million-dollar ‘New Annual Festival’ held in Newcastle.

When driving past Civic Park, it’s hard to miss the large dome that will be the epicentre and main stage of the festival.

Known as “the Hanger” the pop up instillation creates a theatrical-style carnival atmosphere.

The festival will see many local artists take part in ticketed and free events- including dance, live music, art displays, presentations and live talks.

Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes believes New Annual will enhance Newcastle’s reputation as a hub of art and culture.

“Over time the festival will grow to become a significant generator of cultural tourism, positioning Newcastle as an innovative and creative community with a vibrant cultural history, an amazing depth of talent within its performing and visual arts sector and a bright future as a smart, livable and sustainable global city” she says.

The festival will run from 12th to 21st of February.
