SOUTH TAMWORTH BAKER VIOLENTLY ASSAULTED LEAVING WORK
A man in the state’s north west has allegedly been violently assaulted, after leaving his work at a bakery early this morning.
Shortly before 5am, emergency services were called to the intersection of Robert Street and Woodward Avenue in South Tamworth.
Police arrived to find a 49-year-old man with serious head injuries.
Witnesses say the victim was held down and repeatedly punched and kicked in the head.
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. He was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
A 23-year-old man, from Westdale, was arrested at the scene.
