Labor has welcomed news that the promised upgrade of East Maitland’s Victoria Street train station is going ahead.
The state government has released detailed plans which include three new lifts, upgrades to CCTV and lighting, and better shelter.
Member for Maitland, Jenny Aitchison, says the project was originally promised by former Liberal MP Robyn Parker, and had stalled… until now.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming months, and take around 18 months.
