STORIES OF MIGRATION GO ON DISPLAY IN NEWCASTLE

Personal experiences from Australia’s diverse migration story have gone on display, as part of a new exhibition at Newcastle Museum.
‘A Ticket to Paradise?’ examines the history of migration since World War Two.
“From the period when Australia of course had a white Australia policy to a period where that was gradually dismantled over the 60s and 70s and now we do run a genuinely non-discrimnation immigration programme,” says Micahel Manthorpe from the Immigration Department.
Australia is now home to people from 200 different backgrounds.
