CONFIDENCE BOOST FOR ANDERSON FOLLOWING POOR SHOWING AT SURFEST

Merewether’s Philippa Anderson produced one of the best performances of the draw during round three at the Australian Open of Surfing.
While others, such as world junior champion Macy Callaghan struggled, Anderson scored an early seven.
“That’s a great start, that’s the kind of start, the kind of start you want when you’re coming up against Silvana Lima and Kobie Enright.”
An eight point one on her fourth wave secured top spot, helping Anderson advance to a match-up with world champion, Wright.
It’s a great confidence boost following a disappointing result at home.
“Yeah I’ve been training and working really hard at home and to get knocked first heat at Surfest was a kick in the teeth so it feels good to get a couple of good scores out there.”
