HUNDREDS GATHER FOR STEELWORKS REUNION

Hundreds of former BHP workers have reunited at Carrington Bowling Club, to commemorate 20 years since the steelworks closed.
Organiser Aubrey Brooks also encouraged them to attend historical tours at Muster Point Memorial and Del Pratt House tomorrow.
“We’ve got the Steel Workers Memorial, it cost 70-thousand dollars to build, and the members of the NIHA raised that money to build that for the men and women of steel,” said organiser Aubrey Brooks.
Today’s reunion was the first time many had seen each other since its closure.
