The teams have been announced for Newcastle Rugby League’s first All Stars game on March 4, with Mark Taufua to the captain the non-indigenous side.
“I think it’s an awesome thing. The town is still buzzing from the Indigenous All Stars being here last week, I think it’s a good concept. We’ve got some talented indigenous players in the Newcastle rugby league comp,” said Taufua.
Knights legend Ashley Gordon will coach the indigenous squad, which is expected to be tough to beat… considering the Hunter’s recent success at the Koori Knockout.
“A lot of us don’t get to play with each other on a week to week basis, the Briggs from the All Blacks, Warren Schillings and Steve Gordon from the Yowies,” said Gordon.
