MAN FACES COURT AFTER INDECENT ASSAULT OF ELDERLY WOMAN

A 53-year-old man is facing court, accused of indecently assaulting an elderly woman for hours, at her home in the Hunter.
The 85-year-old woman was alone in her house at Edgeworth between 6pm and 8pm last night, when a man entered the house.
The accused allegedly indecently assaulted the woman several times over the course of two hours, until she was able to press an alarm.
A relative of the elderly woman went to the house and allegedly saw the man leaving the premises.
Paramedics attended the house and treated the woman for a number of non-life threatening injuries.
The man was arrested a short time later at Cameron Park, and later charged with aggravated break and enter; and assault with intent to commit sexual assault.
It’s understood the man had done gardening work at the victim’s home in the past.
