There were dramatic scenes at Forster’s Main Beach this morning, with a shark prompting the evacuation of hundreds of swimmers.
Lifeguards raised the alarm shortly before 11, after a helicopter spotted what’s believed to be a 2.6 metre grey nurse.
The Department of Primary Industries says while it wasn’t considered to be dangerous, the shark was swimming very close to shore.
