Armidale cyclist Sam Jenner is an Australian champion after winning the Under 23s National Road Championship late yesterday afternoon in Victoria.
The 19 year old sprinted away from the lead peleton with three laps remaining, crossing the finish line in front.
His final attack saw him finish in less than three and a half hours, and almost a minute before his nearest rivals.
“It’s unbelievable. I’ve worked really hard for this. There’s a lot of people that have worked very hard to get me to where I am as well. So, to pull it off is just, you know, it’s what you dream of.”
