WOMEN RESCUED FROM CLIFF LEDGE AT DUDLEY

Two female bushwalkers have spent a long night, stranded on a cliff ledge at Dudley.

Police were called late last night, when the the women, both aged 27, became trapped while attempting to walk from Merewether to Redhead.

During a search of the area the Westpac Rescue Helicopter located the pair on a rock ledge around 1:30am.

It was deemed too dangerous to winch the pair out, so the helicopter lowered in supplies and a paramedic to remain overnight.

Ground crews walked to the location at first light this morning, to rescue the women.
