DISQUALIFIED DRIVER CHARGED AS PART OF OPERATION SAFE ARRIVAL

A 42-year-old female driver, who was disqualified from driving until 2030, has been charged with breach of bail and driving whilst disqualified in Toukley today, as part of police operation Safe Arrival.

The arrest comes with the Christmas-New Year road toll standing at one after a man in his 20s died in a crash near Bathurst overnight.

Another 40 people have so far been injured in 88 major crashes, with more than 700 speeding infringements issued.

The road safety operation launched yesterday.

Police advise road users to keep to the speed limit, don’t drink and drive, wear a seatbelt, put your phone away, and take regular breaks.

Double demerits will be in place during the operation, which runs from Friday 16 December until Monday 2 January 2017.
