Immigrant farmers are boosting the agricultural sector across regional and rural Australia, according to a new report released today.
The document, which was comissioned by the government’s Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation, outlines a three-year study.
It found permanently skilled settlers and short-term labourers are bringing unique skills to the industry.
Lead researcher Professor Jock Collins says the study illustrates the various roles immigrants play in the re-energising of regional towns.
