- A 58 year old Taree man is facing court, charged with murder, following the shooting death of his estranged wife at Maitland early this morning. He was arrested at gunpoint while still armed with a rifle.
- Members of the Budgie Nine have arrived home at Sydney airport after being released from prison in Malaysia.
- And a Humpback whale with a calf has freed itself after it became stranded off North Stradbroke Island this morning. Two other whales stood by until the mammal escaped.
