A Lake Macquarie teenager, about to sit his HSC, is being hailed a hero after racing into a burning home, to try to save his neighbour.
The 18-year-old Callaghan College student is now in an induced coma, after being overcome by intense smoke.
His neighbour, a 63-year-old grandmother, was flown to a Sydney hospital.
