NEWCASTLE AFL STAR NAMED BEST YOUNG PLAYER

Newcastle-bred Sydney Swans star, Isaac Heeney, has been named the AFL Coaches Association’s Best Young Player of 2016.

Heeney was a standout in last weekend’s win over Adelaide, gathering a career high 32 disposals.

“How embarrassed we were against GWS, knowing that it was probably our poorest performance of the year, then going out like we did against Adelaide, putting in a four quarter performance gives us confidence.”

Heeney and the Swans put their grand final hopes on the line on Friday night.
