12PM NEWS UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 7, 2016

Here’s Paul Lobb with an NBN News update.

  • A man has suffered burns in an accidental explosion at a Sydney unit, understood to have been caused by a cockroach bomb placed near a hot water tank. The explosion blew out three windows of the ground floor unit.
  • An Australian man on holidays has died after he was bitten by a shark while kitesurfing in New Caledonia. The Fremantle man was on a reef in Koumac when he was bitten on the thigh yesterday afternoon.
  • Dramatic footage has captured the moment a car was engulfed by fire on a major Sydney motorway. A car ran up the back of another vehicle causing it to burst into flames near the off-ramp at Homebush. Luckily, no one was hurt.
  • Three people have been confirmed dead after a helicopter crash and fire in Florida. The older, military style chopper was reportedly doing test flights low to the ground when the accident happened near to Orlando Airport.
  • And Footage has emerged, claiming to show a Tasmanian tiger roaming in the Adelaide Hills. The animals have been classified as extinct for decades. Video experts are doubtful – saying the quality is too poor to prove the animal filmed is a Tasmanian tiger.
