PLAN FOR HAZARD REDUCTION BURN IN NEXT TWO YEARS ANGERS ABERNETHY LOCALS

A blaze ripped through the Hunter town of Abernethy in 2002, claiming one life and destroying 11 homes.

Residents there have been on edge during the recent hot weather, worried it’ll happen again – and now they say a national parks plan isn’t helping their nerves.

  1. The man who died in the 2002 ignored and drove through a road block. The men in the clip seemed able enough to join the RFS or is that someone elses job. Mate , that water pump and hose is only good for spotfires, it would be fool hardy and pointless to take on a running fire with that and dressed correctly for the radiant heat, not like the clowns at the terrace in shorts, thong and singlets
