There’s been a disappointing start to refugee week in Newcastle, with vandals attacking a support centre for new arrivals.
Workers at Zara’s House this morning found their glass doors kicked in, just a day before the women’s centre was due to open.
“These people who want to do nasty things all they do is draw the people of Newcastle closer together, we’re a refugee welcome city we don’t care what a few crazies want to do or say”, says Sister Diana Santleben.
The opening will continue as planned tomorrow afternoon.
