HUNTER WATER BILLS TO RISE

Hunter Water customers will see their bills increase $25 a year from July 1, following a review of prices by IPART.

The rise will see apartment owners pay an additional $36, while businesses may vary depending on how much water they use.

Hunter Water says the revenue will pave the way for an investment of $364.5-million in new and existing infrastructure over the next four years.

“Hunter Water will still have one of the lowest average water bills in the country. Further, we will be doing everything we can to ensure our operating costs also continue to be among the lowest of any Australian water utility,” said interim CEO Jeremy Bath.

The price increase comes as Sydney Water customers have their bills slashed by $100 a year.

Meanwhile IPART has also slashed the utility’s operation expenditure by $9-million.

Hunter Water says it has already commenced a review of its spending over the next four years.
